Virlanie Voices performs with Filipino artists at Fete de la Musique opening

Four years after they opened for the 21st Fete De La Musique in 2015, Virlanie Voices once again joins the Fete on stage as they perform with many Filipino artists such as Joey Ayala, Bayang Barrios, SUD, Jansen Gomez, Bituin Escalante, Barbie Almalbis, Marc Abaya, Candy Gamos, Cooky Chua, Abra, Banda Kabataan 77, Brass Pas Pas Pas Pas and many other known artists in the local music scene.

Fete de la Musique in Manila is organized by the Embassy of France in the Philippines, co-organized by Alliance Française de Manille and B-Side Productions; the festival has promoted and celebrated music in all forms and genres, especially by local artists, since 1994.

On its 25th anniversary, the Virlanie Voices took part in a 25-minute medley, singing Awit ng Kabataan (Song of the Youth) by Rivermaya with SUD vocalist, Sud Ballecer, and Bonggahan by Sampaguita, together with all the artists in the medley.

Music for Love

Last June 8, Fete de la Musique brought its music to the children of Virlanie by staging a popup gig called “Music Heals”. Artists Fatima Palma Loo, a nurse turned full-time musician, and Quest, a Filipino hiphop artist, gave performances for the children and even sang and jammed together with the choir.

Loo, who sang her songs “Ara Po”, “Sinta”, and “Minero” was delighted that she could use music to communicate messages of love and care for each other, as well as motivate people to become better as music had also helped her during her bouts with depression.
