As part of Virlanie’s Bangon Probinsya Program, which aims to rehabilitate and empower the communities that were affected by the super typhoon Yolanda, the Foundation selected Barangay Pondol as one of the communities to support because it received less attention from the government after the tragedy.
The construction of the Multi-Purpose and Community Center for Barangay Pondol, President Roxas, Capiz was completed last July 4, 2015 through the help of Enfants Monde Tiers (ETM).
The Barangay Council set up a mini grocery as a livelihood activity. Residents in the barangay are patronizing the mini-grocery because they can save money by not having to go to the town proper.
Everybody is happy about the quality of construction of the covered court and the mini grocery. The covered court is now being used by the children and adults when playing basketball.
The project was handed over to the barangay on the third week of July 2015, and the facilities will be the responsibility of the Barangay Local Government Unit. The Municipal Local Government Unit will be allotting the appropriate budget for the operation and maintenance of the facility.
The Barangay Council will conduct regular meetings to discuss issues related to the operation and maintenance of the facility. As a part of project monitoring, Barangay Pondol will likewise submit quarterly reports to Virlanie Foundation to update the Foundation on the development of their livelihood.
