Last 30 October, the Virlanie staff and children from our residential program in Makati gathered and were dressed up as monsters, witches, zombies, and vampires in celebration of Halloween.
For this occasion, the children, house parents, and the home staff in the Virlanie homes in Makati prepared a presentation which were both touching and frightening. They practiced every day for weeks.
The judges really had a hard time choosing winners as all the performances were all fantastic, but in the end, Tanglaw Home won the first prize, followed by the Drop In Center, and the Masaya Home. The Drop In Center (DIC) also received the best costume awards owing to their almost true-to-life mummies. Aicel from Marco Polo Care Center (MPCC) who came as an “aswang” and Roman from DIC in a bat costume were also awarded the princess and the prince of the night. The Hallow’s King and Queen went to Aime Home’s house dad and its social worker.
The Virlanie children and staff closed the night with heightened spirits, each very proud of their performance.
