Virlanie recognizes children’s accomplishments at the 2nd Recognition Day

For the second time around, Virlanie recognized the academic accomplishments and values formation of its supported children and young adults across all its programs through the Recognition Day. With the theme “Hawak Kamay Tungo sa Tagumpay (Hand in Hand Toward Success),” the recognition day was held last April 12, 2019 at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center, Quezon City. It was attended by Virlanie children and young adults, their families, sponsors, partner organizations, volunteers, and staff.

This special event was organized by Virlanie’s Education Pillar, through the Magellan Learning Center (MLC), in collaboration with the Community, Street, Residential, and Integration Pillars.

For the school year 2018 to 2019, a total of 222 children and young adults were recognized for their outstanding performance and behavior. Among them were 29 students who moved up or graduated from their respective grade levels.

Here’s the number of graduates per grade level:

  • Kindergarten (Moving Up or Completion): 6
  • Grade 6 (Graduation): 11
  • Grade 10 (Moving Up or Completion): 3
  • College (Graduation): 8
  • Special Education Graduate Recognition: 1

According to Mary Joyce Molina, one of the organizers and a teacher at Virlanie’s Magellan Learning Center (MLC), the recognition day seeks to continue motivating children and to acknowledge the educational support and services of our volunteers. “Ang pinaka-objective nitong recognition day is to boost the self-confidence and self-esteem of the children by recognizing their achievements, mapa-academic man o behavioral (The main objective of the recognition day is to boost the self-confidence and self-esteem of the children by recognizing their achievement, whether it be academic or behavioral),” she stated.

Volunteers and partner agencies/schools were also acknowledged during the event for the support they have extended to the children and youth under Virlanie’s care.
