Virlanie children join Tulay ng Kabataan Foundation’s #SavedByLove Competition

In celebration of Tulay ng Kabataan (TnK) Foundation’s 20th Anniversary, 40 children from our residential homes and partner communities participated in their #SAVEDBYLOVE Competition last November 3, 2018 at the Ateneo de Manila High School Covered Court and Track Oval in Quezon City. Around 2,000 children from nine foundations catering to street children joined the said competition.

Our children and young adults participated in the cheer dance, modern dance, basketball, volleyball, painting, poster making, coloring, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, long jump, chess, dama, and larong Pinoy. Virlanie won several places in six of the 13 contests. The results were as follows:

1. Running long jump (1st Place)

2. Larong Pinoy (1st Place)

3. Cheer dance (2nd Place)

4. Painting (2nd Place)

5. Chess – double category (2nd Place)

6. 200-meter dash (2nd Place)

According to Jessa, one of our young adults who participated in the cheer dance competition, it was a fun experience for them to play and compete with other children and young adults. “Nag-enjoy ako kasi marami akong nakilala na ibang tao from other foundations. Masaya rin ako na nakapag-bonding kaming lahat sa practice (I enjoyed because I met a lot of people from other foundations. I’m also happy that we were all able to bond during our practices).”

TNK is a non-profit organization established in 1998 which aims to help street children and children from very poor families. This is the first time Virlanie joined TnK’s anniversary competition.
