Virlanie celebrates Nutrition month through urban agriculture

While chanting the song Bahay Kubo, a famed Filipino folk song about vegetables, the Virlanie children marched around Yague and Mascardo streets last July 14 morning to parade in their vegetables and fruits-themed costumes. Eager for the day’s activity – not even the threat of a rainy day stopped our children, houseparents, and staff from the Magellan Learning Center (MLC) in celebrating this year’s Nutrition month.

In line with this year’s National Nutrition Council’s (NNC) Nutrition month theme “Ugaliing magtanim, sapat na nutrisyon aanihin”, this year’s celebration introduced urban gardening to our children through planting various vegetables and fruits, as well to increase their awareness of the benefits from urban gardening.

From various nutrition-themed games, planting vegetables, and sharing a healthy boodle lunch, our kids sure had a healthy-ful day! Follow our kids’ fun activities from the photos below!
