The Rising Youth celebrates their 4th Anniversary

The Rising Youth (TRY), Virlanie’s young adult organization celebrated their fourth anniversary at the SiBuHi Area last September 7, 2019.

TRY is Virlanie’s youth-led organization composed of young adults from Community, Street, and Residential pillars. It aims to provide venue for the young adults to develop and apply leadership skills, learn camaraderie, and share acquired knowledge to other children and young adults.

The mission of these children is to become responsible young adults that give back by sharing their talents and skills for a better future.

The anniversary celebration started with a presentation of the activities they have done for the past year.  Among the presented notable achievements of TRY are as follows:

  1. TRY have been organizing events and activities such as sports festival, social engagement at Virlanie street program in Delpan and at Reception Action Center, and summer camp for Virlanie children.
  2. These youth also performed their speech choir piece in national events, making them advocates for marginalized youth.
  3. They also engaged in Global Youth Summit where they got a chance to exchange ideas with fellow youth leaders in the Philippines.

Mama Estela, Masaya Home lead house parent, gave a speech of how proud she is of these youth. “One of my most appreciated activities you did this year is the surprise you organized for us on Mother’s Day. We’re happy that you appreciate all our efforts,” she said.

The celebration continues with a surprise led by the officers and members of the Rising Youth for their adviser, another Virlanie youth, Kuya Mark Anthony, who passed the Social Worker Licensure exam last August 21-23, 2019.

In his inspirational speech, Mark mentioned, “I thought it is just to celebrate our fourth anniversary together as a youth group, but you surprised me. Thank you so much. I will take this as inspiration to give myself more to others.”

TRY officers also gave a special number to their co-members. The program ended with a delicious dinner.
