For over three decades, Virlanie Foundation has been a symbol of care and hope in the Philippines by serving its most vulnerable and marginalized children. Our mission has always been to provide love, care, and opportunities for these young lives, ensuring they can thrive despite their circumstances. Today, we find ourselves going through financial difficulty and we need your support more than ever to keep our doors open and continue to help these underprivileged children.
Since 1992, Virlanie Foundation have provided food, shelter, clothing, education, medical services, as well as livelihood training to abused, neglected, and vulnerable street and special needs children and mothers from selected communities in Manila. We have reconnected some street children with their families and brought them back to their homes, graduated several from high school and college, and provided livelihood training to others. Many have gone on to carve an independent and productive life for themselves. We have done this for around 22,000 children and mothers for the past 32 years through hard work, diligence, and the generous support of donors and sponsors.
The past decade has been quite challenging for the foundation. A couple of major foreign donors have stopped their support for internal reasons. We scaled down operations to adjust, but the COVID-19 pandemic further disrupted foreign and local businesses and the capacity of corporations and individuals to continue providing us with the needed funding support. Despite these hardships, the needs of our children have only grown. Now, more than ever, we must ensure that we can continue to provide the critical services that are their lifeline.
Closing our doors is not an option we want to consider. The children who depend on us have already faced unimaginable hardships, and losing the support and stability we provide would be a devastating blow to their futures.
