We did it #TogetherForJasder!

Jasder is a little 5-year-old boy who lives with us in Virlanie’s Babies & Toddlers’ Home in Manila, Philippines. He was born with a heart defect called “Tetralogy of Fallot” which results in insufficient oxygenation of blood. Because of this heart defect, Jasder’s physical body suffered, and it prevented him from living a normal life. Instead, his lips were blue, his breathing shallow, and his eyes were swollen. He was too weak to play, run, and grow like other children his age.

Last February, the staff of BTH reported that Jasder was showing signs of weakening. Virlanie Foundation, then, decided to launch the emergency campaign called #TogetherForJasder to raise the funds needed to finance the operation that would change the life of the little boy. Virlanie Foundation aimed to collect Php 500,000 (€ 9,500) for Jasder’s needed heart operation by March 2016. But on February 17, Jasder suffered a crisis due to his heart condition, and it became apparent that the operation could not wait until March. The boy was operated at 8:00 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, 20 February. By 2:00 o’clock, he was transferred to the recovery room and then to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

After 24 days of hospitalization, Jasder finally returned home with a fully repaired heart.

Jasder’s life is now out of danger and he continues his recovery in Virlanie’s Babies and Toddlers’ Home with his brothers and sisters, who are so happy to have him back home.

All this would not have been possible without the active participation and the tremendous generosity of our donors. As of March 29, 2016, the #TogetherForJasder campaign raised PHP 820,586.99 (€ 15,715), which covers all hospital expenses for Jasder and more. Excess funds will be dedicated to post-operative maintenance monitoring for Jasder, and will be allotted in Virlanie’s medical emergency account.

We wish to again send a big THANK YOU for the support and love that our donors have brought to this little boy and the real contribution they have made in his life.
