#THEYMADEIT : A Jay Mark success story

"Since the day I first began to dream, Virlanie has been there."

20-year-old Jay recently received his Bachelor in Science of Physical Education at Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga City in May 2023. He departed for Zamboanga with aspirations of becoming a teacher when he was 6 years old. His family was one of the beneficiaries of the Balik Probinsya ( BP) Project of the Virlanie Foundation intended for families from danger-prone areas  ( dumping sites) in Payatas, Q.C.  He and his family have been very appreciative of all the support given to him that includes unconditional support in his education.

How long have you been a Virlanie Foundation, Inc. and what do you remember about it?

“I’ve been a beneficiary of the Virlanie Foundation since I was six years old. It’s been a while, and I appreciate everything. I consider Virlanie to be like family. Since the day I first began to dream, Virlanie has been there. I’m able to pursue my passion because the Social Worker constantly encourages me to keep going no matter what. They were always there to support me and let me succeed, even when I was quite stressed while studying. In addition, Virlanie supports and helps my family. “

Now that you have graduated, what are your plans for the future?

As a newly graduated teacher,  my dream and my goal are to pass the licensure examination to be able to practice my profession, as a teacher I genuinely wish to give back to the community where I am leaving I live in Zamboanga, an island where there aren’t enough teachers. That is why it’s so crucial to me. I want the kids to have the same experience, and dream, and be successful in pursuing their goals, just like I did. “

Have you a message to Virlanie, sponsors, or beneficiaries?

Thank you so much, my dear sponsor, and my Virlanie family for allowing us the chance to pursue our ambition, and to my co-sponsored students, aim high and achieve your goals no matter what,  it might not be too easy to reach, yet I urge you to have confidence in yourself and to be upbeat. I just want to thank the Virlanie Foundation personnel for being there to support us, aid us, check on us, and remind us when something is wrong. “
