The 22nd National Children’s Month was celebrated in October with the theme “Bata, Kasali Ka, Ikaw Ay Mahalaga!” (Child, You Are Included, And You Are Important!) It promotes children’s participation in nation building and in matters that affect them. Children’s participation is one of the rights of children included under Article 12 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Based on the CRC, children have the right to participate in decision-making processes that may be relevant in their lives and to influence decisions taken in their regard—within the family, the school or the community.
