The adoptive family of Carl, a previous residential beneficiary of Virlanie, recently went on a visit to celebrate a wonderful milestone at the Babies and Toddlers Home (BTH) of the Virlanie Foundation. Carl was 5 years old when he was adopted by Mr. John and Ms. Riza back in 2019. Now, it’s been 4 incredible years since they become a adoptive family. It was a heartwarming exhibition of love, gratitude, and strength of family. This remarkable family traveled to the Philippines to commemorate Carl’s birthday. In addition to inspiring gratitude for the opportunity to meet the children, their visit reverberated with the promise that adoption holds.
During the visit, Carl was visibly pleased and excited to bond with other children and Mama Andrea, reminiscing his loving memories and times in BTH.
According to the statements of her mother, Ms. Riza expressed that the early years of Carl’s development are crucial in building his perception of love and family. She also expressed that there are various challenges and rewards of adopting a child. She shared in an interview with his partner, Mr. John, that adopting a child is one of the best decisions they made. They were able to start a family and live a fulfilling life together, love Carl, and be by Carl.
However, one of the most difficult challenges they faced was when Carl was adjusting to his new circumstances and reality. They shared that they struggled to overcome the confusion and pain of Carl being separated from Virlanie where he grew up. Fortunately, the couple shared that because of seminars and counseling, support groups, patience, and showering the child with unconditional love, Carl was able to adjust and accept them. They expressed their undying gratitude for Virlanie raising him in a loving and supportive environment where he was able to show and reciprocate it also to his adoptive parents. Most importantly, the couple remarked for couples like them, that if they’re considering expanding their family, truly consider adopting a child.
